Four thousand children die needlessly every day from drinking contaminated water. It is a tragedy that hundreds of millions of people obtain their drinking water from polluted sources such as muddy rivers, ponds, and streams. This public health crisis can be addressed today through innovative and low-cost technologies that effectively clean water while removing bacteria, viruses, and parasites.

PSI’s safe water initiatives are supported in part by generous contributions from Procter & Gamble, which manufactures the PUR® Purifier of Water™ product. PSI programs have provided the PUR® Purifier of Water™ product in more than seven countries worldwide to address some of the most critical global emergency relief situations, including the 2005 tsunami in Asia, hurricanes in the Caribbean, and earthquakes in Pakistan.
